A Brief History of
Campbell County, Kentucky
Campbell County was formed in 1795 from portions of
Harrison, Mason, and Scott Counties. Both the cities
of Newport and Alexandria serve as the county seat.
The first County Courthouse dates back to 1794 in
the City of Wilmington. Eventually, the County
Courthouse was moved to Newport.
